Tropico 4 PC demo released

Step into the curiously expensive shoes of El Presidente with the PC demo for Haemimont's construction and management sim, which includes four tutorial mini-missions and one campaign mission.

Do you have the shrewd business sense, grand vision, and golden epaulettes to rule a tropical island nation as El Presidente? You can put your inner dictator to the test in the Tropico 4 PC demo released today, a 1.69GB download available here at Shacknews.

The demo packs the construct-o-manage sim's four tutorial mini-missions, along with the first campaign mission. This should offer a fair sense of what it's like to run your own island, juggling building settlements and industries, attracting tourists, keeping the populace please (or under control, at least), while also feeding your Swiss bank account in case it all goes a bit pear-shaped and you need to make a hasty escape.

Developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media, Tropico 4 will be released for PC and Xbox 360 on August 30. Improvements over Tropico 3 include new buildings, improved graphics, disasters including volcanoes and tornadoes, a civilian council, and national agendas.

Is it just me or does the installer not let you choose where to install it?

Well played a bit, sad that you can't save.
Great music as always. So far it's fun but feels like more of the same. Jack the speed up and fire all the construction workers as soon as the game begins. Only way to get their asses moving

Wait, fire the construction workers? I played all of Tropico 3 and its expansion and never heard of this strategy.

Well, I started up T4 and placed 2 farms.
I waited ( on Normal speed) for the construction workers to snap in to action. Nothing. I clicked on the construction office and the workers just walked around for a month and a half.
          Action had to be taken!
I right clicked all of their little profile pics in the construction office and a new batch of recruits applied for job. We filled them at a rapid pace and were back to a full staff.
Trucks began to roll out of the garage and to the site.
          Construction had began
          El Presidente is happy.

But that was my main complaint in T3, Construction workers not working right, I used to fire them, but I don't know if it helped.

It seems like they just updated the gfx abit and added 4-5 new buildings and nothing more.

China and the EU/Arabs seem to just be added to pester you for a few items now and then as in the demo any way it only shows you can become allys with the US or USSR.

Over all form the demo it looks like every thing that was added could of been added in a small patch to T3 apart form the gfx update.

I hope the game adds more than is seen in the demo other wise i will be annoyed to pay full price game price for what is little more than a patched T3.
