Valve offers 'Blood Harvest' in Left 4 Dead 2 as a beta test incentive

Valve is offering up the original Blood Harvest campaign to users for use in Left 4 Dead 2, if they can meet a hefty achievement goal.

Valve's quest to inject original Left 4 Dead episodes into Left 4 Dead 2 continues. Today's Left 4 Dead 2 update includes the new version of the Terminal Map for Dead Air, the game's official blog revealed.

To entice people to test the update, the team at Valve is offering players a prize: the beta version of the Blood Harvest campaign for Left 4 Dead 2. Getting the prize won't be easy, however, as players will have to accomplish a difficult task together.

A new achievement, dubbed "Connecting Flights," has been added to Left 4 Dead 2, which unlocks when players play "a complete game of Versus in Dead Air." When 60,000 people have earned the achievement, Valve will unlock the beta version of Blood Harvest on Steam "the next weekday."

Previously, Valve offered to unlock Dead Air early, if 20,000 L4D2 players unlocked a freshly created achievement. A mere 24 hours later, the goal was shattered.

This time, Valve is making it harder to accomplish the goal. "60,000 is going to be hard," the official blog noted. "You can’t rage quit and you need to work together. Once you get the achievement, help others get it as well."

Who even plays this anymore? And who even cares anymore?

L4D1 was just a BETA and L4D2 got boring after a couple months.

Now, quit wasting time on this crap and give us Episode 3.

Do I really have to go through all this AGAIN?

Google it for fuck's sake, I'm not typing everything up for the 10 thousand's time.

And your petty insults show a lack of mental capacity far more than anything I've said. Go read about game development, about the history of L4D, analyse the game itself, read up the thousands of comments and the frustration of gamers when L4D2 was announced, look at how Valve has treated L4D1 oh you know what, fuck it.

Just stick to your wrong opinion I really don't care.

I play this game with a bunch of Shackers at least once a week. What they're doing is encouraging old players to come back and play it again, as well as beta testing the map. As a reward we get another map, for free.

Say what you like but half of my Steam friends list played it back in the day and now only maybe 2 people do once a month or so.

In all fairness L4D and the whole "zombie" fad has had it's day for a while. Time was (L4D1 launch +3-6months) you'd have no trouble getting a decent crew for an Expert runthrough or some decent Versus, these days the lobbies and the servers are just dead.

It's had it's time, I agree with Mr. Mystery there, stop fucking about and give us Ep3.

A game got boring after a couple months? If that's true for you, then why is that bad? Some of the games I own, great as they may be - GOTY and so forth, have sometimes never even got more than a week out of me.

        Bitch just to bitch.

        1. over 10,000 people at any given time, that's who.
        2. ALL PREQUELS ARE BETAS
        3. do you honestly think that the same people porting these maps are the same people designing Episode Three?
