The reorganization at Electronic Arts that saw Peter Moore promoted to chief operating officer and a number of other changes continues. EA has confirmed that its EA2D studio has become part of the BioWare group, and will be renamed BioWare San Francisco, Gamasutra reports. The report notes that this addition brings BioWare up to six locations between five studios and a dedicated customer service center.

As EA2D, the studio developed two Dragon Age games, the browser-based Dragon Age Journeys and Dragon Age Legends on Facebook. Other games the team has developed include The Fancy Pants Adventures, which wound up releasing on Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network and Mirrors Edge 2D, another browser-based game.

The studio's mission statement on its official site says "EA2D, a development studio at Electronic Arts, creates high quality social games for avid gamers across connected platforms including online, mobile and beyond." From this move it seems the Dragon Age tie-in games likely proved successful and it wouldn't be a surprise to see similar such efforts around Mass Effect 3 as its release draws closer.
