Watch id's John Carmack talk Rage in QuakeCon keynote address
by Garnett Lee, Aug 05, 2011 4:45pm PDTAt QuakeCon 2011, John Carmack, co-founder of id Software and perhaps better known as the programming mastermind behind its game engines, delivered his annual keynote address. With the game nearly finished and playable on the show floor, he focused his attention on Rage. Calling the game, "the most enjoyable id game, from my perspective, that we've ever made," Carmack went into some details about the long road its development took.
Carmack also talks about developing the game for multiple platforms, and some of the considerations that had to be made for consoles that are sure to rankle PC players. He takes questions in the later part of the address but don't get hopes up; another year passes without anything new on Doom 4.
