Have you purchased tickets for Activision's Call of Duty XP yet? Judging by the fact that tickets are still available for the event, more than two weeks since ticket sales launched, we're going to take that as a "no." But don't worry, Activision is sweetening the deal for you. The $150 ticket will include a free copy of the Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition (pictured above).

But wait, there's more! Activision is also offering a $1 million tournament, which will be based on Modern Warfare 3's still-mysterious multiplayer mode.

The tournament, sponsored by Microsoft, will have teams vying for a total of a million dollars worth of prizes, with the top team winning $400,000. You can pre-qualify for the tournament via Black Ops, with four additional slots filled on-site during the expo.

Activision's Call of Duty Elite subscription service will also be previewed at Call of Duty XP, with attendees getting a first look at some of the original video programming in development. Arrested Development alums Will Arnett and Jason Bateman are producing a series for the Elite service, and Arnett will be in attendance, showing off the new program.

The team that created the Find Makarov video, We Can Pretend, will also be showcasing a sneak peak of their now officially-sanctioned live-action short.

Call of Duty XP takes place on September 2nd and 3rd in Los Angeles. Tickets are still available for $150.

So... did they add this as a perk because con sales weren't as good as expected? Or was this the plan all along?

the same company that doesn't put its games on sale for 2 years, is not going to give away its games unless something is wrong

That sounds like $150 worth to me.

also remember that ALL proceeds from ticket sales ($150X5k-6k tickets available) are being donated to the call of duty endowment fund.

I'll be attempting to attend. Free copy of MW3? I've never been to a convention anyway, it would be fun.

So, is it some sort of voucher to get the special edition free at launch, or are they actually giving out free early copies? That seems like the kind of thing that would piss off a lot of fans, a select few having a 2-month head start.

I'm assuming the former out of common sense. :/

I hope this is a sign that people are finally tiring of the CoD cash cow Kotich has created. I doubt it, but I can still hope can't I?
