Minecraft enthusiasts can prepare to set sail for Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas this November. No, it's not because they're (all) degenerate gamblers. Developer Markus Persson (aka Notch) will be there, launching the first full release of the game at an event dubbed MineCon. Persson first mentioned the idea of the 2011 conference back in May. The event is now scheduled for November 18th, one week later than originally planned.

Besides Minecraft's first full release, details about what the event will entail are scarce. However, back when Persson first talked about the conference (formerly known as MinecraftCon) back in May, he posited that there would be "contests (costume, speed building, whatever else), Q&A sessions, parties and awesome food and such." Excluding hotel and travel, he speculated that the cost would be around $90 per person, depending on bulk-deals and discounts that could be secured.

A MineCon registration site will reportedly launch next week with more information, enabling folks to purchase tickets for the event. No word yet as to what they'll cost, but considering the game's popularity, they might disappear faster than Creepers at sunrise.

"For me, MineCon is about celebrating the full release of Minecraft," Persson told PC Gamer in an email. "I'm really looking forward to getting up on stage and pushing the button to upload the final build."

Though MineCon will certainly mark "a huge milestone" for both the developer and fans of the game, and result in some much-earned celebration, Persson reiterated that the development of Minecraft will continue, saying that he plans to "go back home and keep working on Minecraft directly after MineCon."

Minecraft surpassed 1 million unit sales back in January, and continues to generate ridiculous piles of cash for Mojang Specifications.
