The Witcher 2 Xbox 360 delayed into Q1 2012

The Xbox 360 edition of splendid RPG The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is being delayed for a little extra polish, developer CD Projekt RED has announced. Previously due by the end of this year, it's now slated to launch in the first quarter of 2012.

"As we have stated many times before, The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 will be an adaptation and not regular port. The extra time will allow us to polish the title to perfection, so that the game offers an ideally balanced, fantastic experience to gamers," CD Projekt RED president Adam Kicinski said in the announcement.

"As the launch of the game approaches, we will be sharing more details how it will be released on Xbox 360. I trust that despite the release date shift, players will be satisfied with what we are planning for them."

RED notes that the delay is also partially motivated by its legal battle with European PC publisher Namco Bandai over the console publishing rights. Namco Bandai believes it secured the console rights too, while RED disagrees and gave them to THQ.

On the bright side, RED reveals that it'll use the Gamescom show this month to release a trailer teasing a "major DLC that will be part of the upcoming, as-yet-unannounced update" for the PC edition.

sweet more DLC (GO PC!!).....on a controller note however, they really need to fix how the 360 controller works in the menus.....for that matter they need to just change the menus almost entirely........

Yea the menus in that game are really awful. Once I got used to them they were at least usable but at no point were they good.

Haha, spoken like a true console peasant. The menus were awesome and the whole game was a proper PC game.

I... can't even tell if you're being serious. But even as a PC gamer, I'm gonna straight out say that the menus were fucking terrible. Not consolised, not 'PC master race'ised, just awful, unintuitive and cluttered.

I have a feeling it won't sell very well on 360

Why? Because it isn't Halo or Call of Duty?

probably will still sell better than the pc version though....

If this game hits stores in that small window between the end of holiday-time and the front of March, there's the potential to get some good coverage and sell some decent numbers. I prefer to stay optimistic, and not shrug off a port game that won't hit shelves until after the new year.

Someone drop some knowledge on me supporting your opinion that, "the menus in that game are really awful / the menus were awesome." I appreciate details and well thought explanations, not off-hand critiques and elitest gamer putdowns.
