Duke Nukem's reign over your free-time is far from over. Duke Nukem Forever publisher 2K Games has announced that Duke's first downloadable content will arrive this fall for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

The multiplayer-focused "Hail to the Icons Parody Pack" is set to feature three new game modes and four multiplayer maps, along with a few other bonuses. Want some more good news, Duke Nukem fans? First Access Club members that registered their membership prior to the game's launch will get the DLC free.

According to a press release from 2K Games, the add-on will feature three new modes: Freeze Tag, wherein teams work together to freeze and shatter their opponents; Hot Potato, where players battle to hold onto the babe the longest; and a "free-for-all Duke style" in Hail to the King. "Hail to the Icons" also includes new weapons for the game's multiplayer mode.

The DLC also features a few tongue-and-cheek shots at Duke's FPS competition in the form of four new maps, as 2K outlined in its release:

Call of Duke: Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don’t stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b.

Sandbox: Players take the role of mini-Duke in a giant sandbox with two bases at either end made out of children’s toys. This map features Sticky Bombs.

Inferno: Time machine engage! Duke does combat in a hellish landscape of lava and teleporters. Who turned on the 16-bit graphics, and more importantly, where did this DFG come from?

2Forts1Bridge: Hats? Duke doesn’t need no stinking hats. Give him a minigun and he’ll beat off all comers.

2K Games is giving fans in the area of its Novato, California, office a chance to play the content early. For more details, check out the information on the official press release.

George Broussars tells a story, I think it's when he pitched the original Duke Nukem idea to a foreign publisher or something, and all they asked were questions like "why is the character gay?".. "Why a sleeveless muscular jock if it's not a gay oriented game?", etc....

Yes it is. I play a lot of DNF MP :)

Morningwood‏ is a fantastic map for 1v1 and 2v2. The netcode is shit, though, so all the nerds with some skills and idea how to play properly get owned because they can't do their shit and I play on 0 ping :(

Hooray for lack of dedicated servers :(

this was my first reaction.. just fix that netcode and give us dedicated servers. you could save the franchise.

They have a lot of cheek trying to make fun of contemporary games considering they did their level best to copy them all and still fucked it up.

Also when do we get an actual good single player campaign?

LOL, what a fucking joke. No one will buy this DLC because the MP is dead already. What a fucking money grabbing move by GBX and Take 2.

I would say most of the people who will be playing this DLC are those that are getting it free as part of the First Access club.

What about a "PC is worth it" DLC that adds quicksaves and more than 2 weapons?

Can't say I'd pay for that because I'm done with the game, but it'd be welcomed I'm sure.
