Weekend Debate

by Steve Gibson, Jun 04, 2000 10:28am PDT

Well, it looks like the majority of design decisions have been hashed out for the new (optional) karma system have been made. I'm going for the very simple approach for levels of moderation, here are the classifications of comments that you will be able to view and sort by, if you choose:

- VIP/Developer/Admin post, or a correction/update to the story (about 1%) - Well thought out/lengthy posts (about 2-4%) - General on topic posts (about 50-85%) - Off topic but non-offensive (about 10-40%) - *nuked* / spam / board abuse (the rest)
The percentages being my rough guess on how things will turn out. I may gank the 2nd category if things turn into a 'how smart/snooty can i sound' race. We'll just have to wait and see. In addition, Jack/Andy came up with what is probably the most clever interface I've ever seen for threading (Its all on one page!). I'll put together a demo of it for you guys to play with when I get home from Austin. You'll be impressed. :)

  • Dear CatTurd,

Karma is a basic concept common to HINDUISM, BUDDHISM, and JAINISM. The doctrine holds that one's state in this life is the result of physical and mental actions in past incarnations and that present action can determine one's destiny in future incarnations. Karma is a natural, impersonal law of moral cause and effect; only those who have attained NIRVANA, or liberation from rebirth, can transcend karma.

Pray with me now Grasshoppah. Let us sing the song of Karma and touch the teet of Nirvana. "It's ok to eat fish... 'cuz they don't have any.. feeeelings."

Oooohhm... Oooohhmmm... *fart* No Beano for you Grasshoppa CatTurd! Out of me temple!

(Karma whores must be hanged! :)
