The video game release list of 7-25 to 7-31

Next week will bring Catherine and From Dust, along with the Dragon Age 2 'Legacy' DLC and 'Annihilation' for the PC and PS3 editions of Cod Blops.

With From Dust and Catherine both coming out next week, it's difficult to feel at all disappointed that only a few new games are coming out. On the downloadable content front, we're also getting Legacy for Dragon Age II and Annihilation for Call of Duty: Black Ops on PC and PS3.

Unfortunately, PlayStation 3 players will need to wait a little longer for From Dust, as Ubisoft has yet to pin down a release date.

Here's the list of next week's releases:

PC

Xbox 360

PlayStation 3

Nintendo 3DS

DS

Is From Dust going to be an XBL game?

I'm completely shocked at the high reviews Catherine is getting.

It's definitely a "not for everyone" game, but if you like Persona-y games or zany Japanese anime, it may be for you.

The Giant Bomb Quick Looks are probably the best way to tell if it's for you:
        http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-catherine/17-3730/ (original Japanese version demo)
http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-ex-catherine/17-4137/ (US version build, English localized, leading into Nightmare 4)

I've played through the Japanese version, and really liked it. I have a feeling that people who play both may end up liking the jankiness and voice acting of the Japanese version, but will feel good about being able to understand the dialogue and other things they missed.

The block climbing section looks deeper than it seems. It's pretty damn challenging, and you have to have a bit of foresight in some sections so you don't get yourself trapped. Atlus ended up putting in the "Super Easy" mode to give extra energy drinks so you can blaze past the block climbing sections if you're getting challenged too heavily, or don't want to spend a ton of time getting stuck in some of the harder ones.

Monies, monies give them your monies. The last time that development house got a huge development budget, Digital Devil Saga resulted.

The metacritic scores (100, 90, 70) show that it's a good game, but not necessarily for everybody. It's hard to write off the game as a 70 when the other scores are 90 and 100. Of course, if you played the demo and watched the gameplay video on giantbomb, and it doesn't look like you'd like it, then praises from other people aren't going to convince you that it's for you. A FPS MW2 junkie may not care for Civ, but that doesn't make it a bad game.

Hahaha, My Australian Farm. BiP is really going full throttle with the "Mad Libs" model of DSiWare games.

My Australian Farm: "Little by little as your farm builds up, you will unlock certain bonuses: a grain store, a wind turbine, a sacred stone, etc."
My Asian Farm: "Little by little as your farm builds up, you will unlock certain bonuses: a pagoda, a rickshaw, a guard dog, etc."

And of course the originals, My Farm and My Exotic Farm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMBQrbtjPWI
