Quake News
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 04, 2000 7:42am PDTA news post on Blues News got some info from an attendee of the first Annual Roadmaps to the Future of Cluster Computing conference, saying that one of the announcements was a plan to restructure the Quake code to allow a server to run on a cluster so you can have thousand of players on a single server, without any further details, but hopefully we'll hear some more on this soon.
And in other Quake news, a news post on Q3F.com (thanks Ryan Stotts) indicates a new version of Q3F(ortress) beta 1 is planned for release today, including "tons of new features, commands and fixed bugs" , as well as a new map, q3f_well. You can look at six screenshots of that map here.
