Star Wars Xbox 360 console announced
by Steve Watts, Jul 21, 2011 11:40am PDTStar Wars fans, you've had some tough times in recent years. There were the prequels, then that cartoon movie. And the zombie trooper book? We understand. But R2-D2 and C-3PO are still undeniably iconic, which may be why Microsoft chose to model an Xbox 360 after the famous droid-buddies, to be released this November alongside Kinect Star Wars. Microsoft's Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) shows off the slick new hardware.
The system itself is styled after R2-D2, complete with his coloring and blue paneling. The controller is inspired by his counterpart, C-3PO, and is fluent in six million forms of communication. The included Kinect device is a special edition white version to imply Stormtroopers.
It all makes for a pretty impressive package, but it comes at a premium. The package will cost you $449.99--a good deal more than you have to shell out for a standard Xbox 360 these days. However, there's quite a bit included in the box, in addition to the special edition console and controller:
- Kinect Star Wars game
- 320 GB Hard Drive
- Xbox 360 Wired Headset
- Kinect Adventures game
- Exclusive downloadable content
If you're a Star Wars fan with almost five hundred bucks sitting around, you can pre-order it now from participating retailers.
