Homefront 'The Rock' map pack visits Alcatraz

Though Homefront's developer has been shut down, the downloadable content keeps coming. A $5 map pack will take players to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge in two new maps, and add TDM support to two other maps.

Though Homefront developer Kaos Studios was shut down in June, parent company and publisher THQ isn't giving up on the near-future shooter just yet.

Two new multiplayer maps will arrive "soon" in a new map pack, THQ has announced.

'The Rock' map pack will take players to 'Alcatraz,' the eponymous prison, promising "fierce close-quarters fighting." It'll also offer "large-scale warfare" in a battle to secure the North Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge in 'Bridge.'

As well as adding the two new maps, the downloadable content will open up existing arenas Waterway and Overpass for team deathmatch mode.

While platforms are not confirmed, THQ says that The Rock will be "available first" on Xbox 360, suggesting it'll hit others later. The 'Fire Sale' map pack took five weeks to hit PC, and has still yet to be released for PlayStation 3.

This is why I wait until after release (or after a Quick Look) for all game purchases now. Almost nobody in the AAA space releases a pre-release demo (or if they do, you have to commit to a same-publisher purchase beforehand; see Duke Nukem Forever and Battlefield 3 for examples).

That's what I'm doing now, I can't remember the last game that burned me this bad on release day. I was fucking furious when I beat it in 3 hours not to mention just how shitty the game play was. I havn't pre-ordered or picked a new game since Homefront. Now I will just sit and wait for good sales and reviews from gamers. Fuck Kaos they had this closure coming.

for as short as the main game was, shouldn't these have been included in the original game?

The multiplayer in this game is actually really well done. I wonder if there would be interest in a Shackbattle.
