Xbox 360 update promises 'no new features'
by Andrew Yoon, Jul 19, 2011 1:00pm PDTThere are a lot of new features coming soon to Xbox 360. However, today's system update offers none of them. Major Nelson reminds Xbox owners that today's update is simply "preparation for additional system enhancements coming to Xbox 360 later this year."
Kinect is the big focus of the upcoming system software update, including a revamped Dashboard and Bing Search. Other features include the addition of YouTube and BBC iPlayer support, as well as "live television" and cloud storage.
So what's in today's update? Version 2.0.13599.0 of the Xbox 360 system software adds--you probably guessed it--enhanced anti-piracy measures. Online mumblings also suggest that Avatar Kinect will be enabled by the system update. (It was promised to arrive by the end of July.)
