It shouldn't come as any surprise that the highly-anticipated Batman: Arkham City is also getting the special edition treatment. The Collector's Edition will come alongside the game for $99, and will be available on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. As with any collector's edition, the real question is what goodies are meant to tempt you into spending that extra forty dollars?

This is what's in the box.

The haul in Arkham City looks pretty impressive. The CE includes a custom Batman statue from Kotobukiya, art book, a digital soundtrack with original songs from "hit artists," the DC Universe animated movie Gotham Knight, and four collectible cards. And lest you forget that there's a game in there too, you'll also get early access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and a character skin from the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie, The Dark Knight Returns. The special edition, like the regular edition of the game, is due on October 18.

I actually think, from the looks of things, the character skin is from the comic series the Dark Knight Returns where Batman comes out of retirement to clean up the streets. The upcoming movie is called the Dark Knight Rises.

Correction: next movie is The Dark Knight Rises, not The Dark Knight Returns.

I appreciate the correction, but it was wrong on two counts. The movie name you have noted, but the costume is not from any movie upcoming or otherwise it is from an Allan Moore comic book.

the only thing i get these for really are the awesome statues. Anything else is a bonus or just stuff i will never use.

I can't wait for this game but that statue looks fucking awful. Standard edition for me!

The statue is about on par with a pack-in. Not technically free, but you're not buying the status specifically.

As kind of stupid as the Batarang that came with Arkham Asylum CE was ... I thought it was at least more clever than a statue.

      Eh. Regular edition here too.

I put that Batarang behind the display from the Collector's Edition of The Dark Knight on blu-ray and it looks really sweet, like they were meant to go together.

Isn't the Batarang made of cheap plastic? Hope they used better material for this unimpressive statue.
