Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced a few pre-order goodies coming with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary: Master Chief armor for your Avatar, and a "Grunt Funeral" Skull game mod. The armor is exactly what it sounds like, a chance to dress up your Avatar in the duds of John 117. The Skull makes Grunts explode like a plasma grenade upon death, setting up hilarious (and tragic) chain reactions of grunty demise.

The announcement didn't mention specific retailers, so check with your shop of choice before you plunk down your money for a pre-order. Also, if you happen to be attending the San Diego Comic Con this weekend, you can check out a Halo panel with 343 Industries. It will be held on Friday, July 22 from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. The panelists include Frank O'Connor, Kevin Grace, special guests Greg Bear and Karen Traviss, and promises a retrospective of Halo and "sneak peek" into what's next for the series.

Looks OK.. Certainly doesn't look as good as Reach. What's the retail price for this game anyway? Because I originally expected this to be an XBLA release, which would be great. But I paid £50 for this game 10 years ago and there's noway I'll be paying the full whack (£39.99) if this is what they are retailing it at

I hope it doesn't. I liked when you could make it fly and land on people only to drive away perfectly later.

The most exciting part of this video is that it's running at a smooth fps, the original trailer was very unnerving.

So, now all of the grunts explode after they die? They weren't wielding grenades when they were killed, as far as I could tell.

That's what adding that skull does, makes them blow up on death.

So it's like a juiced up Grunt Birthday Party?

Well they call it Grunt Funeral, but yeah sounds like a juiced up GBP.

Okay, thanks. I'm so used to skipping the logo stuff at the beginning of videos that I missed that part.

Yeah but which retailer will exclusively offer this amazing exclusive bit of exclusiveness?!

I see no end in sight. =(

This is nice and everything but there isn't a multiplayer component so I won't be picking it up unless it's >$10.
