  • I would like to say that I agree with many of Andy’s points about the CoD franchise. From the outside looking in, just like Andy, I also feel like there’s not much love for the CoD games in the gaming press. Andy touched on some interesting theories which I would not disagree with. One could easily assume that because most gaming journalist have to play so many games that they might not have the time to invest to be able to understand what makes the CoD’s multiplayer mode so good. It would be interesting to find out how many of Weekend Confirms cast have done at least one prestige in either Black Ops or Modern Warfare 2. Anyway, as for the comparison to the Bad Company series, my friends and I also feel that the CoD series do have tighter controls. And in a game where putting your crosshairs over your enemy is so important, tighter controls can be a deciding factor in which shooter a gamer might prefer. Also, I don’t know Bad Company’s frames-per-second score but I do believe that CoD’s 60fps standard is a big factor in why it is the king for online multiplayer shooters. Which brings me to the other big reason why the CoD franchise is my shooter of choice; the carrot dangling. Once again Andy and I are on the same page when it comes to Black Ops. I have also stopped playing Black Ops because of the cod points. Modern Warfare 2 did such a great job in dangling that carrot to try and get you to keep on playing on-line and Black Ops decided that it was better if you could just buy what you wanted as soon as you had enough cod points. Frankly that totally ruined the game for me because it took away the carrot. Now I was just playing to earn enough points to get the few weapons and perks that I needed and it became another mindless shooter. Mind you, the mechanics of the game are still intact and it is fun but without that carrot I really have no purpose to play the game than just to kill some time. Anyway, I see Andy’s getting some heat for some other stuff he says later in the podcast (I haven’t finished hearing it yet) but I just wanted to say that I enjoyed Andy’s presence on the show and would love to see him come back.
