Now to the big point yes the Wii U is underpowered, but as a hardcore gamer can you buy the next Xbox or playstation if it does not come with a tablet controller? I'm pretty sure that controller is a great idea, the problem thats gonna make the price on each of those go up at least $150. Assuming they go multi-touch, and the only way to cost cut go with a weaker console than was planned (again assuming). I can see them just going super on the graphic but that's only if they get a new console out next year, if not that tablets is a must as it will be the standard.
PS I'm not sure but could you use the tablet to run say WoW.

You'll have games adding 'screen' controls or features just to say they have it. I have yet to see a SINGLE use of that screen around which an entire game experience could be built. Hell, I have yet to see one way in which that screen adds significantly to existing game design.
This 'throw in a new hardware gimmick' design philosophy is annoying bullshit.
