Rovio is looking into console ports for its popular game Angry Birds, and already has a few in mind that could be a good match for the simple physics game. Eurogamer reports that vice president of franchise development Ville Heijari says they're "looking at every console" to house the game.

"We haven't really looked into the Wii U specifically yet - we haven't announced anything for Nintendo consoles yet," he said. "But if you look at the control methods, if you look at the Wii U, I mean that's a really, really natural match, so obviously we're very interested in developing there as well." He also calls the 3DS "really really interesting" and said it's a "perfect match" for Angry Birds.

On consoles, Heijari says Rovio would want to expand on the familiar slingshot-based gameplay. "There's a good opportunity there to do a lot in terms of adding a lot of polish to the graphics and still you get high resolution, you get better frame-rates, you can really do physics-intensive stuff. You can still do the same sort of slingshot game and keep it really engaging and interesting and make it fresh again. And then doing different stuff with 3D graphics and looking at building completely different experiences with more storytelling and that kind of thing."

He reiterated that they haven't announced anything for consoles, but mentioned some of the advantages that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 could offer. "The opportunity is there to do so much more," he said. "You have all the horsepower. I'd hate to say better experience, but visually more compelling." He also said that if they pursue PS3 or 360 hardware, they'd chase the core consumer first, but they'll "definitely not ignore Kinect and PlayStation Move either." Rovio is watching the launch of the Vita as well.

If console ports do happen, Heijari acknowledges they'd probably be downloadable titles, but he's not ruling out adding a lot of extra content to justify the price of a boxed retail product.

I love how fucking cocky these guys are when all they've got is a polished rip off of a Flash game. Christ.

I agree, but you gotta give it to them. It was polished, and they did it at the right time. NOW LOOK AT THEIR MONEY! LOOK AT IT!

Stupid game... I wonder who likes playing it again and again? Because that's what I'd wanna do, when I paid for a game.

Though I sometimes enjoy playing this on my iPad while on the go, I can't see myself ever wanting to sit down on a couch playing it on a big screen.

It's a mobile game without depth of any kind.
