BlizzCon hosting GSL pro StarCraft 2 final
by Alice O'Connor, Jul 13, 2011 6:45am PDTBlizzCon 2011 will host the October season finale of GOMtv's excellent South Korea-based StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty professional league the GSL (Global StarCraft II League), Blizzard Entertainment has announced. This comes in addition to Blizzard's regular BlizzCon tournament, the Global Battle.net Invitational.
Both competitions will be streamed for free online, requiring only a Battle.net account to get in on the fun. This will be the first time that the GSL finals venture outside South Korea, so hopefully the travel won't affect finalists too much.
BlizzCon 2011 is on October 21 and 22 at, once again, the Anaheim Convention Center in California. The $175 tickets sold out, as always, within minutes, so you'll need to cough up $40 for the full stream if you want to see everything.
Blizzard has been quiet about what exactly will be on show this year, so it's good to start hearing details. We can doubtless expect the annual opportunity to play Diablo III and more on StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, but it'd also be nice to get a release date for either, not to mention a peek at Blizzard's mysterious new MMO codenamed 'Titan.'
