Paul Steed Responds

Stomped managed to get ahold of Paul Steed, who, as you all know, was fired when DOOM3 development started at id. Here's a big chunk of what he has to say on the subject

<snip> My time at id was priceless and no doubt ranks among the most memorable of my life. However, everyone involved in this fiasco knows it's complete and utter Bullshit. I hope the ones responsible for this wasteful and pointless act enjoy what they see in that mirror every day. My committment and dedication to id was unquestioning - people are just blind to their insipid loyalties and petty insecurities.

Bah. Whatever. At least John set the record straight. Time and PR crap may try to change that, but he was man enough to speak up. For that he will always have my admiration, respect and assurance that when he's sick of all that mess...he knows where to find me.

  • Rocket Arena 3 on Linux - June 3, 2000 - crt
I went ahead and ported RA3 to Linux today, both server and client. It went fairly quickly and looks great. The Linux version has all of the features of the Windows version (including ArenaSpy!), except the MP3 player, which I may port over in a future release.
The Linux version will be available at the same time as the Win32 release. Currently Mac support is up in the air, as no one has released instructions for building native mods on the Mac. However, I do plan on porting it to MacOS X once the Quake 3 port for that platform is done.

Sorry if this has been posted before. There's no way in hell I'm gonna comb through 300+ posts.
