Saints Row: The Third offers pre-order DLC, teases 'Season Pass'
by Andrew Yoon, Jul 11, 2011 3:30pm PDTTHQ and Volition's upcoming open-world game, Saints Row: The Third, is going to have a lot of downloadable content. So much so that THQ is offering a DLC "Season Pass," not unlike Mortal Kombat and LA Noire. The Season Pass will give access to three additional downloadable mission packs and is valued at "more than $20." Right now, the only way to get access to the Pass is by pre-ordering the game on THQ's online store. The first 3,000 purchases will get a voucher for free.
While it is a tempting offer, note that one-day shipping from THQ's store to the U.S. costs $23.90--more than the cost of the Season Pass.
If you don't want to take advantage of THQ's online store offer, all other pre-orders will include Professor Genki's "Hyper Ordinary Pre-Order Pack," which includes a number of rather over-the-top virtual items:
- Professor Genki’s Super Ballistic Man-a-pult: Cruise Steelport in style with this vacuum-action human-cannonball truck. Suck up pedestrians and use them as live ammunition against the forces of evil, and everyone else.
- Professor Genki’s "Octopuss" Cannon: Fire baby octopi onto your enemies’ heads! Watch as the octopi massage their scalps and your enemies fight for you! Enemies can be friends too!
- Professor Genki's Leisure Stunt Suit: The ultimate in comfort and tight-fitting apparel, the Genki Leisure Stunt Suit is perfect for skydiving over Steelport or to wear while ejecting from high-flying fighter jets. Free Genki mask included!
A pre-order pack this silly has an equally absurd trailer. Be warned! The hyperactive energy may make this one of the most effective pieces of advertising I have ever seen.
