you guys are all fucked. i'm canadian, and proud of it.
east coasters talk with an accent, slang, slur, whatever. i haven't been out west in awhile, so i can't say about them.
everyone writes the same, talks the same, everyone is the same (US or CANADA).
personally i look forward to the MS move, if it takes place.
the only shitty thing about an MS move to canada is that i might have to get a registered version of an MS os.

It would actually be funny if Canadians really did say aboot. In my 17 years in Canada, I've NEVER heard anyone say that.

No joke, on the Fox news channel I saw a promo for an upcomming report later that day about Anti-American setamets comming from candian media.

The reporter voice over was on top of that Molson commercial where the candian dude is going "its about not aboot, I'm candian and proud...the beaver is noble"...whatever, while the reporter was saying something like : Are candians American bashing?

I didnt see the report though, I fliped to watch bouncing titties on baywatch. Fox News Channel...Hrm...owned by Rupert Murdoch...who is a kangaroo screwing criminaly minded (from his ancestors no doubt) Australian. Hrm.. makes you wonder. Damn aussies..

It's REDMOND! Microsoft is based in REDMOND! Jeez, what is it with these people??? NASA kept saying at Kennedy Space Center that Boeing was located in Seattle, when it's actually in EVERETT (I know, I live here), and fuckin EVERYONE says MS is in Seattle! IT'S REDMOND PEOPLE!! Get that, Steve?

well, i'm from USA and i've never heard one person talk with a southern accent. oh wait! I'm from washington, the upper northwest of USA! some canadians say aboot, get over it! not to mention i doubt anyone seriously hates canadians cuz they say aboot and eh. well, no one worth caring aboot. it's just fun to poke fun at it. it doesn't hurt anyone except the stupid people who get offended by it.

If Microsoft was any smart, they would avoid BC for what it's worth. High taxes, red tape and a joke for a government isn't worth it. They are better off staying in Redmond as it is. I'm Canadian, and happy of it, but like others, i'm happy to be getting out of BC and into California in a couple months.

The BBC took a report which mentioned the idea of MS moving north. They ended up publishing a story which is false, MS isn't moving north. Hell, even with the trial, they would be better off in the US for business.

I am Canadian and I hear aboot quite a lot...it is just part of our accent, so get over it. As for French Canadians, I would have to say it is part of their culture to be somewhat...standoffish. They have been a segregated part of the nation since the beginning and I would bet that this has instilled a sense of hostility in some of them. Go to Montreal (prolly the most beautiful city on the continent) and speak French there; unless your accent is perfect, the reply will be in disdainful English. It is pretty funny; we used to test our French on shopkeepers---the less condescending the reply in English, the better your French was :)

I swear to god that the second day I was here after moving to Victoria BC from wyoming, I met a guy that said aboot. I just smiled and thought "Hey thats cool!! Just like Strange Brew!!"

But for the most part, no one around here (surrey BC) says it that much, but the farther north you go,to the smaller towns, the more "eh" and "aboot" you hear.

And as far as Microsoft goes, there is a reason why tech companies are FLEEING BC, high taxes and scarce workforce. Im sure the crooked government in BC would do whatever MS wanted them to. hell, they paid nearly 1 Billion dollars of tax money to biuld 2 "Fast Ferry" boats, only to find out they werent very fast, they constantly break down, and not they are trying to sell them off for a fraction of the price they paid for them. And dont think that Seattle would do whatever they had to to keep MS right were it is.

In short, I love canada, my wife and kids are Canadian, but Im quite happy to be moving to us all to Seattle in a couple months. :)
