Uncharted movie gets new director
by Steve Watts, Jul 08, 2011 7:00am PDTThe Uncharted movie has found a new director, reports Variety. The film is now being helmed by Neil Burger, director of Limitless and The Illusionist. Burger is reportedly reworking the project, and was chosen after he proposed a hewing closer to the plot of the first game.
That should be welcome news to those who didn't like former director David O. Russell's take. Russell had brought along big talent like Mark Wahlberg for the lead. Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci were also on-board for a plot that revolved around Drake's family -- and had very little to do with any of the games. It's unclear now if Wahlberg will still take on the role now that Russell has left due to creative differences.

The bad: David O. Russell is a great director and his involvement pretty much assured that it would have been a decent movie. Now it's up in the air and could become a Tomb Raider.
