If you're waiting for reason to return to Kirkwall, BioWare has revealed that Dragon Age II story-driven downloadable content 'Legacy' will launch for all platforms on July 26. It'll cost $10 (800 Microsoft Points; 800 BioWare Points).

Taking Hawke and friends to an Grey Warden prison, Legacy promises a "harsh truth about the Hawke lineage," new darkspawn, and a shiny new weapon. It also adds more unique areas, which are certainly welcome considering how often DA2 recycled levels.

Here's a peek at Legacy:

Still can't bring myself to finish this game and reading that blurb about the DLC doesn't sway me one bit, $10 for a shiny new weapon. How did they get so far off the original path with this thing.

Do they say if this fits in the story or after the end?

Saw a post that said it wasn't tied to it but did involve Hawke's father in some regards (history or somesuch)

Not falling for this again. I don't have the willpower to get past the first chapter of the OC and I wasted $60 on that.

Yep, I'm probably the only shacker who bought DA2 on its release day, beat it twice and still retains his copy for DLC. While a shell compared to Origins, DA2 still featured awesome party members, memorable dialogue, a few cool quests and a really engaging and in-your-face cinematic presentation.

I think DA2 featured the most party member dialogue during cutscenes out of all Bioware games. Replaying ME2 now, party members don't talk as much during dialogue/cutscenes. :(

What a huge disappointment DA2 turned out to be. DA:O was the first game I had played in years that really brought out that old feeling I used to have when playing RPGs like Baldur's Gate, FFVI, and Breath of Fire 2/3. It was a sense of exploration, of epic adventure, and the combat was secondary to the characters and the story and the world itself. The Dwarf Noble Origin was absolutely brilliant in this regard.

      DA2...oh how unworthy you are.

Real nice. Why don't they just spend that wasted effort making a non buggy/improve game design for DA3? Assholes.
