Last year's ill-received Xbox Live Summer of Arcade title, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, is finally coming to PlayStation 3. The 2D multiplayer title has up to six players jointly exploring maps inspired by the worlds of the various handheld Castlevania games--Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. The visuals are also, as evidenced by the screen above, more than a little "inspired" by the GBA/DS games.

New to the PS3 version is a local 4 player co-op mode, in addition to the 6 player online mode. The "Beauty, Desire, Situation Dire" Map pack, along with the Julius Belmont and Yoko Belnades characters are also included with the game. The included DLC currently has a combined value of 880 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Marketplace, or $11. Unfortunately, it seems that all the additional DLC--4 characters, 4 stages, and 2 music packs--will be sold separately. (The extra content currently totals 2240 Microsoft Points, or $28.)

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair will be available on the PlayStation Store this summer. No price was mentioned, but the Xbox 360 version currently costs $15.

Any word if this is going to come to the PC? Looks like it would go great on any of the digital distribution sites.

I have not heard anything about a PC version, at all.

I will say that it is insane that this game came out at all, and a real miracle that it is finally coming to PSN. I will finally be able to play it myself (always loved the 2D vanias), but don't have a 360.
