Torchlight sales pass 1 million units
by Alice O'Connor, Jul 07, 2011 11:55am PDTTip-top action-RPG Torchlight has now sold over one million units across all platforms, developer Runic Games has announced. We were first charmed by Torchlight on PC in October 2009, with a Mac launch following in May 2010, and an Xbox Live Arcade edition this March.
This sales milestone comes in the wake of two successive sales, the most recent of many. Torchlight was briefly $2.99 in Steam's huge summer sale (it's now $7.49, with a 50% discount), and also has a third off in the Xbox Live Marketplace. While all of those million copies certainly haven't been sold at Torchlight's regular price of $15, it's still a very respectable milestone.
"We're very excited to share Torchlight's success with our fans and supporters. It's been a great ride so far and we can't wait to give everyone more of what they want in Torchlight II," said Runic president Travis Baldree in the announcement. "It isn't every day you sell a million games. We're grateful to be here."
The multiplayer-packing sequel was slated to launch on PC this summer, when we last heard from it.

The identify requirement is the most tedious and unnecessary mechanic in the genre.
I wouldn't mind if it auto-identified things using a reagent each time, but don't make click every... damn... item...
It's just... dumb.
