The Warning gets started with a continuation of a discussion that started on twitter about whether names like Mizuguchi, Suda, Mikami, and Yamaoka generate big buzz. The group also looks at all the other big games hitting their 10th anniversary along with Halo and realizes 2001 was a pretty special year. The news and Finishing Moves bring it all home.

The Felix Culpa is a four-piece band consisting of vocalist/guitarist Marky Hladish, bassist/vocalist Tristan Hammond, guitarist/vocalist Dustin Currier and drummer Joel Coan. From the Illinois/Wisconsin border, the band is best described as progressive indie with post-hardcore elements. They have released two full-length albums ("Commitment" and "Sever Your Roots"), an EP/DVD combo ("Thought Control"), a digital EP ("SoSo Remission") and are currently signed to No Sleep Records. They can be found online at Facebook, twitter, and on their official site.
The Felix Culpa are headed out on a short supporting tour w/ The Dear Hunter.

"Do names like Mizuguchi, Suda, Mikami and Yamaoka not generate big buzz anymore? Did they really ever?"
Generate buzz with who? Hardcore? Of course they did, and still do. Look at the threads on NeoGAF. People go ballistic when a new Mikami game is announced. It seems like a no-brainer that the answer is yes.
Or is he referring to the average joe consumer? Again, it seems like a no-brainer; the answer is no. The average person doesn't know or care who these people are. They never did.
And then he goes on to say:
"But I fear that June NPDs will prove they don't have the sales power they deserve."
Does he actually think those guys, or any other people in the games industry for that matter, had/have "sales power" based on their names alone? Among the average consumer? Is that why he's really pondering? The answer, I think, is an obvious no.
And then I don't get why he singled out Japanese directors, etc. Does he think that Western directors like Molyneux or Spector have selling power based on their names? They obviously don't either.
His entire question, whether intended or not, just comes off as inflammatory.
