Hot Shots Golf to add Move, 3DTV support
by Andrew Yoon, Jun 22, 2011 7:30pm PDTIt's not every day that a four year old game gets a patch, but that's exactly what's happening with Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds (also known as Everybody's Golf 5). According to the latest issue of Famitsu (via Siliconera), the game is being updated to add support for PlayStation Move motion controls, and 3D televisions.
The patch will be live on July 17th in Japan. While an update hasn't been announced for other territories, it seems unlikely that Sony would spend the time to re-engineer the game and not release the update worldwide.
It's surprising that Sony didn't consider releasing a brand new iteration of the franchise, given that motion controls are a rather significant addition to the series. I don't have an economics degree, but I bet Sony can make money off Hot Shots Golf: A New Version With New Features In It instead of releasing a free patch for an aging game.
