Ubisoft has announced the beta for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will now arrive in January 2012, it had originally been slated to launch this summer.

"Ghosts, form up on me." Ubisoft has just dropped mission details on the upcoming beta for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

"We know you have been asking about the beta," the official Twitter account for the franchise noted earlier today, "We're excited to announce that the MP beta will be launching in January 2012."

The beta had previously been planned to launch this summer; however, with the game recently delayed into the publisher's 2012 calendar, the beta was pushed off the summer release schedule.

It's unclear how Ubisoft will distribute beta keys. The beta was originally slated to arrive as an Xbox 360 exclusive for Splinter Cell: Conviction owners. Since Conviction has been on store shelves since August 2010, we presume Ubisoft will release the beta using additional distribution channels.

Shacknews has contacted Ubisoft for comment on the beta's distribution, but have yet to hear back at the time of publishing. For more on Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, make sure to read our E3 2011 preview.

That's just the beta. The game was pushed to Q4 of 2012 after they showed it at E3.

Like Modern Warfare, I am going Xbox 360 on this one but I would like to know if the PC version of this game is still a go. Has it been axed and replaced with Ghost Recon Online? Ubisoft is silent on the matter. If you can speak french, shack staff, make some phone calls, please.

id rather doubt its been axed for PC, and everything I see about the game does not allude to anything of the sort.

This was probably after the E3 reaction to the multiplayer. From the 6/14/2011 Bombcast:

      (1:21:00)

Jeff: "A lot of people said a lot of negative things about that game out of the show, but not really saying WHY...it's because we all played it before the show, and just went, 'eeeeeeech!'"

Ryan: "Vinny and I still have baggage from the last time that we saw it, and it was a completely different game... and still looked really bad"

Jeff: "It was a totally different game... they've thrown out stuff TWICE now."

Ryan: "So yeah, every time we've seen this, they're kinda like, 'Well, what do you guys think?' and it's like 'Well, not so good right now!'"

Vinny: "'We'll give you the benefit of the doubt; you're still workin' on it... it could be cool'... and then it's just like..."

Ryan: "'Comin' out in three months!' WHOOOOAA!! That's.. that's..."

Wanna travel back in time to 2000 and go find the original Ghost Recon team, show them what their game looks like with regenerating health and and the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter.
