Sonic 4 episodes still on-track for release

More Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episodes are on the way, and Sega executive Mike Hayes says the company has learned from some of the quality issues that held back the first episode.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was meant to be a retro-hip refresher for the series, but it wasn't without its problems. When Sega introduced Sonic Generations, which is also a retro-hip series reboot, we had to wonder if plans for more Sonic 4 episodes were being quietly scuttled.

Apparently not so, according to Sega of America and Europe president Mike Hayes. In an interview with Giant Bomb, Hayes said more Sonic 4 is on the way. "I know there were some quality issues that we had there that we've taken on board and there will be further episodes following up on that," he said. "I think the next one's excellent. I think that's going to overcome some of the issues we had on the first one."

The first game was a "hugely successful" according to Hayes, so it makes sense for the company to make more. It's just hard to tell if Episode 1 and Generations will whet appetites enough, leading to less interest in Episode 2.

So they're going to completely redo the fucking shitty physics in remaining episodes? Unless they do, fuck that shit. I wish I hadn't wasted my money being hopeful on the first one.

Heh, talking to Giant Bomb after this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yqm1Sp3v_nY (Ryan Davis' reaction to the Sonic 4 Episode 1 announcement)

That's why they were talking to Patrick, and not Ryan.

so we have two different, retro Sonic games being released. Won't they be too similar? From what I've seen with Generations, why bother with Sonic 4? Gen looks much better.

Excellent, even if I am the only one, I really liked Sonic 4, even beat it. Its a well crafted game for sure.

I am fine with the physics even if they are not like the old sonic games.

Its tough no doubt, the cave level with the water rising and that final boos was so hardcore I had to write the patterns of the boss down on paper so I knew when he did something what to do since it was random, damn HARDCORE.

The level design was really tight, am really looking forward to more.
