We've heard of Collector's Editions and Special Editions and Limited Editions, but a Signature Edition sounds downright classy. We can only assume that was the motivation behind the newly announced Signature Edition of Assassin's Creed Revelations, which gets an automatic upgrade for GameStop pre-orders.

Ubisoft announced that both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will get a free upgrade to the Signature Edition at GameStop. The package includes a bonus single-player mission, an exclusive multiplayer character, upgrades to your weapon capacity, an animated Assassin's Creed short film, and the game's soundtrack.

The company didn't specify if the Signature Edition will be available elsewhere for extra cost. However, you can get an exclusive multiplayer character with your Best Buy pre-order as well.

The company also announced several new Assassin's Creed Revelations outfits and props are available for your Xbox 360 Avatar. Plus, the company is releasing a "limited edition" Avatar collection based on Ubisoft's 25th anniversary celebration, with several items from popular franchises. The items went up on June 7, and will only be available for two weeks from that date.

"upgrades to your weapon capacity" That one, right there, is total bullshit. Excepting of course, if it only affects the single player portion of the game.

Even if it's SP only, still bullshit.

Still not worth it. I'd have to deal with those douches at Gamestop.

I missed out on the CE for AC2 and I regret it. The AssBro CE was stupid with the Jack-in-the-box toy. I hope this one has a decent CE.

Most games that have had a Signature Edition so far, didn't have a CE. It replaced it.

Not the First game to have a Signature Edition. Dragon Age II had the same thing, also at Gamestop.

The DA2 signature edition was available to anyone who preordered it. I got mine from Amazon.

Unless you bought it on Steam, of course. Steam users were not offered it.
