Killer Freaks from Outer Space coming to Wii U exclusively
by Andrew Yoon, Jun 08, 2011 6:47pm PDTUbisoft's strong collaboration with Nintendo continues for Wii U. After developing Red Steel for the launch of the original Wii, Ubisoft is launching a brand new first-person IP for the Wii U. Killer Freaks from Outer Space looks to be a gruesome horror-themed shooter featuring wacky weapons, including a pistol that shoots saw blades. The aliens you fight are eerily reminiscent of Rabbids from the Raving Rabbids games.
The game can be played directly on the Wii U controller's screen, with full support for the controller's built-in gyroscope. The experience is not unlike playing a gyroscope-controlled shooter on the Nintendo 3DS. (Face Raiders, anyone?) Killer Freaks can also be played with the Wii Classic Controller. Two players can play simultaneously, with one player using the Wii U controller's screen, and the other using the TV and Classic Controller.
In one multiplayer mode, the player with the Wii U controller can become a "real-time enemy director," using the touch screen to spawn enemies on the map in an attempt to kill the player playing on the TV screen.
The game is set for release in 2012, and will launch in tandem with the Wii U system.
