A fancy celebratory edition of Bethesda's RPG is coming in a metal box in July for $30, for collectors or those who have yet to experience The Elder Scrolls.

With the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim coming later this year, Bethesda is providing a handy jumping-on point for those who are new to the series but fancy giving it a go--it has been five years since the last game was released, after all.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition will arrive on July 12 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, priced at $29.99. Game-wise, it'll contain The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion along with the 'Knights of the Nine' downloadable content and Shivering Isles expansion. While these were both included in the Game of the Year Edition released for $30 in 2007, the Anniversary Edition has physical perks too.

Packed into its Steelbook metal case--"masterfully embossed with Daedric symbols," Bethesda says--will be a colour map of Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles, a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of Oblivion, and a $10 mail-in rebate for "the purchase of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and a Skyrim strategy guide."

Bethesda notes that this edition is for North America only, with those for the rest of the world to be revealed "soon."

Strange that not all of the DLC is included in what one would hope to be the definitive version of Oblivion, but there you go.

Kinda wish they'd put another patch out for it. It still occasionally crashes to the desktop for me. Same with Morrowind, too.

      wow...

Epic repackaging of the GOTY edition with some swag. I'm sure it's cool swag - but still just swag.

This doesn't even contain the stuff Steam was selling for 12 bucks a while back.

What a money grab, next up they announce that consoles were the lead platform for Skyr...oh wait.

If they did that it'd definitely be worth buying just to see how they implemented it.

I really would get this if they had included everything in it. Moving on.
