Dungeon Siege 3 PC demo launched
by Alice O'Connor, Jun 07, 2011 8:25am PDTIf you're feeling overwhelmed by all the video game news spilling out of E3, perhaps you need to take a break and actually play a video game. Say, a demo for the PC edition of Obsidian's dungeon-crawling action-RPG Dungeon Siege III.
As Dungeon Siege III is a Steamworks game on PC, you'll need to hit up Steam to download the demo. It's a 1.5GB download.
The Xbox 360 demo hit last week, but who can possibly grumble about a demo arriving before the game actually launches? What a novelty in this day and age. And for PC too, no less!
There's no word on the PlayStation 3 demo yet, which has doubtless been thrown off by the kerfuffle with the PlayStation Network. With PSN now back up and running, hopefully we can expect it soon.
Dungeon Siege III launches for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 21, published by Square Enix.

PC gamers can now go adventuring with the demo for Obsidian's action-RPG, which launched today. The Xbox 360 demo came out last week, while we're still waiting on a PS3 demo.

Camera tended to swing around opposite of the way I wanted - almost deliberately.
Controls are pretty much pasted on top of a console app and are confusing.
No way to customize keys and I hate this with a passion. You are stuck with left-click attack (fine) and right-click move (not fine). Only way to see what the keys are is to open up the in-game help and read through each topic to see if it mentions what the key is.
Stupidly, you can run over money to pick it up (be right on top of it), but other items you have to press the use key again to pick it up? Did they completely forfuckingget DSII and the one key picks everything up inside 20 feet?
The equip screens are really annoying. It's not like every other standard RPG where you have a picture of your dude and the items are all right there. There's a list of like, weapon, chest, gloves, boots, helm, then when you click on that it opens up and you see what's equipped compared to what could be equipped. Giant consolized waste of real estate.
There's apparently some crap with 'powering up' by attacking enemies. I don't know what this is, and I pretty much have hated games with this kind of dynamic, but I was playing the fire chick character, switched to fire mode, pounded some keys and like 4 guys all died screaming in flames. That was kind of cool. Then immediately it cut to some dopey-ass cinematic so I couldn't enjoy the aftermath.
Disclaimer: I hate games, ymmv.
