Two down, one to go! Sony has just ended its E3 2011 press conference, leaving a handful of announcements in its wake. If you weren't glued to the live streams, here's what you missed:

  • Sony revealed the PSP successor is named the PlayStation Vita surprising no one. The announcement that the handheld would retail for $249.99 (Wi-Fi only model) and $299.99 (3G/Wi-Fi model) is still shocking. The handheld is launching globally by the end of 2011.

  • Ruin, an action-RPG for the NGP and PS3 was announced. Also announced was the ability to play the same save on either platform, similar to Kojima's "Transfarring" announcement last week.

  • BioShock Infinite will include Move support. Irrational's Ken Levine also announced a new BioShock game will come to the PlayStation Vita.

  • Developer CCP announced Dust 514 is a PlayStation 3 exclusive.

  • Sly Cooper returns with Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, coming in 2012.

  • Resistance 3 will get its own Sharpshooter Move bundle, like SOCOM 4 did before it.

  • God of War Origins announced, collects the PSP games for the PS3. Both that collection and the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus collection will arrive this September.

  • Sony announced new hardware! No, it's not a system, silly... it's a 24-inch 3D monitor and Active Shutter glasses in a bundle that includes a copy of Resistance 3 and an HDMI cable for $499.99. The monitor also allows two players to play at once, showing each player a different view of the screen. It's magic or something.

  • PlayStation 3 will receive new media from CinemaNow in America. CinemaNow is a provider offering a similar service as Netflix.

I'll be looking forward to checking out the 24" 3D monitor bundle when it's released....neither Microsoft nor Sony blew me out of the water with announcements...I'm expecting Nintendo to "Win" E3 as they did last year...and I'm far from a Nintendo fan boy...I don't even own a Wii......

What are people expecting from announcements to wow them? I think announcing a new bundle with new monitor technology that we haven't really seen before qualifies as such, at least its innovative, which is always good.

thanks for the round-up. it's a shame that they didn't mention the last guardian - although the psn outage elephant in the room was tastefully dealt with.

are people really giving out about that price? i was expecting at least 400, 5 years of inflation + 50% of the price + improved technology = a fucking bargain. i'm thinking about getting that and the last piece of sony hardware i bought was a ps2 purely cause i needed a DVD player :P

The Vita looks amazing. At $249 for the Wi-Fi version that's going to be the hot item this holiday season.

Well done Sony, Sony showed so many IP's and reasons you should get a PS3 and Microsoft showed so many reaons for why I should build my own PC and play games on my TV instead...

Really? I thought Sony had a golden opportunity to destroy Microsofts press conference and I don't think it did. Was already looking forward to Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3, so that really leaves Sly Cooper and a couple of exclusive DLC for games like SSX, Need For Speed run and Battledfield 3.

The Playstation Vita looks awesome and I think I would rather have that than the 3DS, but I really do any handheld gaming as it is. In my opinion, the press conferences were about equal.

I didn't mean new IP's just IP's, but I don't know if I'd rather have the Vita vs 3ds, I've already got an iPad and I don't want to play a game like Uncharted on a portable device.

Really? I thought they were both pretty mediocre. I couldn't care less about another mobile console.

I can't tell if this is a joke post or not. Was there more to the press conference than what's listed here? This looks really weak,

I'm not joking and I really did expect so much more from Microsoft, maybe I went in with high hopes but I personally thought that Microsoft had a perfect oppertunity to really supprise core gamers but they're just chasing the casual market it seems.

Yeah I really didn't like the attempts to leverage Kinect in the core market either. I have a Kinect and I don't want to use it for Mass Effect 3. But even so, Sony tried to do the same with Move and Bioshock.

I think MS and Sony both took the wrong lesson away from the Wii. They assumed that core gamers were just pissed about the graphics, when the reality is that they just don't care about motion controls. MS did a great job appealing to the casual market with Kinect but I think they're wasting their time trying to make it an accessory for hardcore games.

I thought they did ok, but I'm pretty much over all current gen consoles and no seems to be trying to get more hardcore players at all.

Nintendo as usual say they're going to do more for the core andd support developers. In a way I think it's stupid to chase the casual, they don't tend to buy more games are are usuallly content playing the same thing or sequels.

I don't think it's really a bargain, you can get a 3D TV of that size for very cheap.

I`m more concerned with the feeling I got left after the speech about the PSN outtage. I thought they would show me in some kind of way its safer, but I don`t know if I can take their words for it anymore
