Prey 2 cinematic teases bounties and parkour

Human Head Studios teases its latest with a pre-E3 2011 cinematic trailer for Prey 2, from publisher Bethesda Softworks.

Though the latest trailer for the Human Head Studios-developed shooter Prey 2 does not feature any gameplay, it's a pretty exciting three minutes and twenty-one seconds.

The trailer begins with a plane being transported out of Earth and crash-landing on another planet. It then follows the game's protagonist collecting bounties on the alien world. The cinematic looks good, but does the game itself live up? We're looking to find out when we see the game at E3 2011, next week.

Wow, CG is getting so damn good nowadays. We've come a long way from Syndicate Wars.

this game looks all types of badass..... but how the fuck do they tie in the plane crash to the rest of the trailer and how the hell does this even remotely get named prey 2?

My guess would be after being kidnapped by aliens you eventually develop some level of Stockholm Syndrome and decide to be a bounty hunter in the alien world after being a cop on Earth

In any event a science fiction video game trailer featuring a dance remix of a Johnny Cash cover of a Soundgarden song is even cooler than it sounds.

Tommy is in the game in some capacity, and there are portals around, you just don't use them yourself. Supposedly it will tie into the first game and the universe according to the developers.

I see what you guys are saying.... but thats kinda like saying there was somebody falling in love somewhere in the world while John McClane was saving the nakatomi plaza so Die Hard 6 will be a love story lol.

or Final Fantasy, where very few of them are related at all and there's frequently huge changes in either the gameplay or even the genre.

More recently, it's like Red Faction -> Red Faction Guerrilla
or maybe Dead Space -> Dead Space Extraction
Hell, even Zone of the Enders -> Second Runner

Those were all normal sequels though and didn't mix up the gameplay too much. Word 03 - Word 07, on the other hand, was a huge fucking shake up with that darn ribbon totally changing the way the game was played. Man, people bitched like crazy, but now that we've got Word 2k7 II, everyone is pretty ok with it.

For Elder Scrolls, at least the numbered sequels maintain a sort of evolution and they don't include stuff like Redguard and Battlespire in the main storyline.

I want a sequel to Redguard.

You play as a cop that was on the plane that got sucked into the alien ship during Prey. After the plane crashes, you grab a weapon and start fucking shit up. Some other stuff goes down, Prey ends, story jumps forward like 10 years. You've become a space bounty hunter dude.

Game plays out in an alien noir sandbox city (inspired Blade Runner) with an aggressive action setup mixed with Mirror's Edge and dynamic missions.

I'm really fucking excited for it. :(

Or it's just one of those "good thing the player character understands a language the player doesn't speak and the game doesn't require you to learn the language by reading the manual" scenarios. You know how annoying it would be to have to learn an alien language to understand any game in which the characters' language does not come almost completely and directly from modern Earth languages?

That was a seriously impressive trailer! I moderately enjoyed Prey, although im certain I never finished it, but this looks like a great game. Or rather I hope it ends up being a great game.

I have been waiting for this one :) Everyone go out and buy Duke so they can make sure to have enough dev time for polish at the end of the cycle.

Why would you buy DukeFo~1.exe? Human Head Studios (HHS) may have had some assistance from 3D Realms (think they were a producer of Prey), but HHS now has a publishing deal with Bethesda. I think its safe to assume Bethesda will allow them to make the game as good as possible within a reasonable amount of time.

The 2k logo is on the packaging for my mac version of Prey, I assumed they were still in cahoots. If it's Bethesda then I trust them as well, I just hadn't heard about it yet.

If all that CGI is any indication of what the gameplay will allow you to do, then this is going to be a pretty sweet ass game.
