The Witcher 2 coming to Xbox 360; new PC patch tomorrow

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is finally making its way to Xbox 360. Developer CD Projekt had previously noted the game would see life on other platforms, but today detailed its plans for Witching outside of the PC.

During its 'Summer Days' pre-E3 event, CD Projekt has finally confirmed that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will arrive on the Xbox 360.

The developer promises that the console version will not "compromise" quality in its conversion. The Xbox port is expected to launch by the end of 2011.

The news of a console version comes to no surprise as the developer had previously stated the team "always wanted and still plans to develop The Witcher 2 on consoles."

CD Projekt also took a moment to reveal a new patch (v1.2) will arrive tomorrow. The patch balances the game's prologue, adds the ability to map keys, tweaks "Target locking", TW1 save file import fixes, and more. The patch also adds new DLC allowing players to change Geralt's hairstyle.

All released updates on the PC will be added to the Xbox 360 version, the developer confirmed.

According to CD Projekt, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has sold 400,000 units since launching two weeks ago.

Described as a game that "outdoes everything in its class" in the Shacknews review, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was developed by CD Projekt RED and released on May 17 for the PC.

Naw, should have never come out at all on the Playstation platform. Microsoft was foolish not to book the exclusive all the way through. Notice how at least with Microsoft, they at least also allow the games to come on the PC. Even if you have to wait, which given my backlog, is a non issue. I own Fable 1-3 but haven't even beaten Fable 1 yet. (Got Fable 3 for free from Windows Phone 7 deal)

        1) Connect your TV to your PC
        2) Connect your X360 controller to your PC
        3) Sit on couch
        4) Play

You can do that right now ;)

You can get Witcher 1 hair back again! I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought Geralt's witcher 2's hair style was a bit... feminine.

i found it pretty good, one annoying thing is the "pause" between when combat ends and you can start looting.

I'd be happy enough if I could assign a loot button instead, nothing more annoying that trying to loot and watching Geralt take another 3 swings with his sword.

Yea its a bit annoying in the beginning when you start flying through the air sword dancing and can't stop when someone attacks from the side... and it's also kind of dumb to have to spend talents to roll further distances, but running around like a lil girl waiting for vigor recharge is amusing. Not quite the badass witcher as everyone ingame says you are.

-A number of fixes have been made in blocking functionality during combat. Also, player character responsiveness in combat has been improved, and Geralt can attack more than one target during normal combat.

They don't need to fix it, it works perfect with the controller already lol

I don't find it really needs fixing, just some initial balancing. No matter what anyone says, that intro is ridiculously hard and poor at giving you a feel for how it works without being overly frustrated first. I tried combinations of what everyone on these here forums was saying, and while I got through the very first area after awhile, the issue compounded not too far after. It's just simply too hard for the first 15 minutes of the game, IMO.

I eagerly await this patch to give it another try. This is what I love about CD Projekt.

The intro is pretty easy on Easy. I had a friend who'd never played the game before try the ballista fight on Easy. He didn't even know the controls and he beat it on his first try without even taking much damage.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. The combat is very responsive. Maybe you're mindlessly spamming buttons and the game isn't magically deducing which of the actions you chose is optimal?

Wait what!? They said console but just confirmed 360? Is the Witcher 2 coming for the PS3? If this is a 360 exclusive I gota hand it to Microsoft they really needed to get more exclusives but if it isn't exclusive than this story makes a whole lot more sense.

Isn't the PC version already the 360 version but without the licensing? I mean, a PC-only action-RPG with controls that can't be remapped, skill/item manipulation that overly complex in a controller-friendly way, and dialogue choices easily chosen with up's and down's?

The only thing keeping The Witcher 2 from being a console title ported to PC is the fact they released it first on PC. Imho, it was designed from the ground up for consoles.
