Disney Universe announced for fall
by Steve Watts, May 26, 2011 2:30pm PDTToday Disney Interactive Studios announced Disney Universe, a multiplayer-focused action adventure game coming to PC/Mac, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii this fall. The game mashes up various Disney properties from the live-action, animation, and Pixar labels, letting you wear snazzy themed outfits.
The announcement promises more than 40 Disney costumes to choose from, including Alice (Alice in Wonderland), Mike (Monsters Inc.), Tron (Tron: Legacy), and Stitch (Lilo & Stitch), each with its own abilities. Your little doppelgangers will then use said abilities to navigate through six Disney-themed worlds, with up to three other players.
Disney is making no bones about its marketing plans, already promising to release DLC that will add extra worlds and costumes for PS3 and 360 players. If your favorite Disney character isn't included in the roster yet, you can always hope for the opportunity to buy it later.
"Disney Universe is a vast treasure chest of Disney properties with memorable characters, places and experiences that gamers, as well as Disney fans will enjoy," said Disney Interactive VP of publishing Adam Sussman, in the announcement. "The fast-paced, frenetic gameplay combined with wacky humor and hilarious situations make Disney Universe the perfect game to play with family and friends."
