Bethesda has revealed that registration for QuakeCon 2011 will open on May 26 at 5pm PT (8pm ET). For those without a calendar handy, that's this Thursday.

Online registration will be open for exhibit hall access, "Bring Your Own Computer" events, and for premium packages.

As previously announced, the event will take place from August 4 through August 7 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, TX. According to the Bethesda Blog, more information will be released closer to the day of the event.

All we can say now is, "Keep those fingers crossed for Doom 4."

They need to know how many people will be coming so they can properly plan out for staff, facilities, etc.

It's interesting seeing as how last year's big gimmick was that there was not going to be pre-registration. Guess that didn't work out too hot for them.

Yes it will be the fifth QuakeCon in a row to talk about RAGE but still not have a way to buy it.

        QuakeCon 2007 - RAGE announced
QuakeCon 2008 - RAGE talked about
QuakeCon 2009 - RAGE talked about some more
QuakeCon 2010 - RAGE release date announced
QuakeCon 2011 - RAGE still not out for another month

I know I'm going to get shot for saying this but I'm wondering if QuakeCon needs to happen every year anymore. Back when id put out a game every 2-3 years, sure, but now the world is in multi-year dev cycles. Sure, they promote games like Wolfenstein and ETQW but even people at QuakeCon tend to not care about them.

Also if last year is any indication you can forget about playing SC2 in the BYOC - the need for an Internet connection, coupled with the shitty connection you can get at QC means no LAN play either. Sucks.

Strangely, the poster lists August 4-7; however, the site (which is what I based this post on) lists 7-11. I've made the change and have contacted Bethesda about it.
