Steam announces new 'Daily Deals' promo

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising kicks off a new Steam promotion, offering a new "Daily Deal" on one title everyday from now on.

Steam has announced a new promotion, offering a new deal on a game every day. Aptly dubbed "Daily Deals", the promotion begins today with 75% off the Codemasters-developed shooter Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

According to the announcement release, Steam will offer "a new 24-hour deal, every single day." Each promotion will run from 10am (Pacific) to 10am (Pacific) the next morning.

Though the current deal will be promoted at the top of Steam's homepage each day, Valve will also announce the deals via Facebook and Twitter.

I wonder if this is in response to Direct2Drive stealing some sales with their ridiculous deals on new games?

I hope so. Lately D2D has had some pretty attractive offers.

The only games I've bought from d2d linked to steam. but yeah, i guess steam doesnt profit off that.

might be, but knowing Valve, they won't discount preorder items beyond their 10% savings.

It's a shame really, the last ~8 games I bought were from Direct2Drive preorder at 30-40% off each.

Yup. Even if it was $1 or $2 I wouldn't buy today's offering. It would be better to put that money, any money, towards trying something different like an indie game than OF:DR.

Heard nothing but problems from people trying to play online / coop.

Coop had a shitton more issues initially in ArmA 2. This was short, fairly sweet, only ran into the time limit once. Wish it was longer, but it's worth $5. I think I paid $12 or something.

Awesome. Hopefully they'll cycle through more obscure titles. I have been waiting for a sale on some oldies like The Longest Journey games.

No matter how much you discount some games, they aren't worth buying...

It seems to be working as intended for most people though.

I've bought so many games thinking, "I don't have time to play now, but I'll play later," only to never play. :( I love games, but man, I just don't have time for them all anymore.

Same here, this year seems especially crowded too. I already own a back log of games to play and I haven't purchased any of the new game this year I want to try: Bulletstorm, Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2, Portal 2, The Witcher 2 and up coming FEAR 3, DNF, Dead Island, RAGE, Skyrim, Deus Ex, Diablo 3.... I better stop because I'm getting aggravated now
