A teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has found its way on to the Internet, revealing the (expected) return of the best-selling Activision franchise.

[Update #2] A fourth teaser, this time featuring France, has been added to the mix. To watch the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 videos in order of release, view them from the bottom of the page to the top.

[Update #1] A second and third teaser for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has made its way online. While the first teaser featured America, the new trailers feature Germany and England.

Check back on Shacknews or the official Call of Duty YouTube page for updates.

[Original Story] "Wasn’t planned, but you’re clearly hyped," Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling noted in a recent tweet.

Bowling is of course referring to the announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was officially revealed as the next (already known and planned) installment of the Call of Duty franchise.

Like the first teaser for Modern Warfare 2, the trailer doesn't feature much in the way of detail; however, it confirms that the series is continuing the story of Infinity Ward's 2009 entry in the series.

Interestingly enough, the MW3 trailer features no developer markings at all, whereas the MW2 teaser did include an Infinity Ward logo. Reports claim that Modern Warfare 3 will be a joint development effort.

Bringing the series back is no surprise, considering Black Ops--the most recent release in the franchise--was named as the "best-selling game of all time" by publishing giant Activision during a recent investors call.

More details--if any are left--will be revealed closer to and/or at E3 2011.

I've always thought the teasers for MW have sucked. MW3 continues to reinforce those conclusions.

Not really. Homefront felt like it was borrowing heavily from some of the level design and feel of the suburb levels in MW2 to me.

I'd be interested to hear what the development culture is like at Infinity Ward. I imagine it to be a very awkward place to work with lots of dispassionate employees. That studio has essentially lost all creative freedom now and will forever be fated to make Call of Duty games until the series becomes unpopular.

Well, I just do not agree. I mean MW1 was marginally better but as far as getting more of what I expected, well executed, MW2 delivered really well. I guess the story was silly, but that's not really what I play those games for anyway.

Well, if you were a PC gamer and you played MW2, you'll be really excited to play BF3 right now. It's honestly the biggest disappointment that I've had in gaming in recent years. Every time I fire it up to see if it wasn't as bad as I though and I sit in a lobby for 5 mins, I remember why I don't play it.

if it launches and fucking works I will give MW3 a 10/10 review. blops and brink have brought me back to lower standards.

if MW3 is the exact same as MW2, but it works, it's an immediate 10/10 and will be GOTY material.

I don't know how an expanded MW with destructible environments is a bad thing. I don't necessarily agree with paying $15 a map pack but it is a new age, price of living is much higher and it is the price of a pizza.

BLOPS worked for me...but MW2 gave me enough hassles and problems that I could never just jump into a game...and when I finally did get into a game it wasn't fun at all (and the gametypes I liked (like HC DOM) didn't even exist and the weapons were a bunch of tacticlol shit (ok, I'll admit I'm a traditionalist about AK's and hate it when people put fucking M4 stocks and Tapco plastic shit on them...fucking airsoft retards)).

I wonder how much of the PC gimping was Activision and how much of it was also West and Zampella. Judging from Zampella's asshat reactions when even the reasonable members of the PC community voiced their concerns, I'm betting he detests PC gamers as much as Kotick does. I don't know if I'll give any love to Respawn Entertainment anymore than I do to Activision/IW.

Deep down my hope is that they get the mouse input in BF3 up to CoD/CS/Q3 levels (I realize the mouse input in CS and CoD/Q3 aren't exactly the same...but they all have something in common: they're all really good examples of mouse input done right...BC2's mouse input is better than the abortion that was BF42's input code...and DICE has consistently gotten better on that front over time...but I'd love to see them really nail it in BF3).
