'Alien' game coming from Total War dev

A video game based upon seminal sci-fi film Alien is in the works at Total War series developer The Creative Assembly, Rock, Paper, Shotgun reports. Yes, that's Alien, Ridley Scott's delightfully unhurried sci-fi thriller, and not Aliens, James Cameron's macho action movie which has inadvertently and devastatingly influenced 25 years of video games.

Largely shrouded in mystery at this point, the Alien title is being developed primarily by the team behind Viking: Battle For Asgard, and is described vaguely as an "action" game.

The Creative Assembly is expanding to take on the project, doubling in size to around 200 people and opening a new office. It's now hiring, if you fancy working in West Sussex, Ye Merrye Olde Englande. Studio director Tim Heaton told GamesIndustry.biz that TCA has approached people who lost their jobs at local developer Black/Rock, which was recently hit by layoffs.

Some manner of console release is confirmed, but there's no word yet on platforms beyond that, nor a release date, details of the game, or anything else you might want to know. With E3 looming on the horizon, though, we might be hearing more about it soon.
