'Silent Assassin' to return in Hitman: Absolution

Hope your piano wire is within reach, because Square Enix has just announced the Hitman franchise is coming back. Hitman: Absolution is coming to the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 from developer IO Interactive.

Our last encounter with the 'as intelligent as he is deadly' Agent 47 was 2006's Hitman: Blood Money, which launched on the PC, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. Continuing from the previous title's unforgettable ending, Absolution will see Agent 47 on the run from police and betrayed by those he once trusted.

"For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy," IO Interactive game director Tore Blystad. "This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman games; something our silent assassins will relish, as will all those new to the Hitman world."

Though the fifth game in the franchise will bring Agent 47 from his slumber, Square Enix has revealed that the game will be based on IO Interactive's new proprietary "Glacier 2 technology."

Hitman: Absolution combines "classic gameplay with completely new features never seen before in the Hitman franchise."

Square Enix has also announced that Hitman: Absolution will be featured--by invitation only--at E3 2011, in Los Angeles from June 7-9. The publisher has also added the above teaser to the official Hitman website.

Lastly, Hitman: Absolution currently sports no ESRB rating. However, I think it's fair to assume the game will be at least rated E10+.

            Oh..

Well, I guess its fine to be cautious, but its been so long since we got a Hitman game, I'm almost willing to try anything.

As long as they keep the mission structure open, give more choices, and keep the rating and the weapon selection awesome, I think this will be a great game.

Hopefully we get another movie as well. The first one was awesome :)

I think the Hitman series has been one of the most concrete/consistent video game series ever.

I actually liked that movie too.
The previews made it look totally different than what it was.

        Also, Olga K was HOTTTT

really? i thought it was total junk. didn't really take advantage of the hitman IP other than having a bald dude and it didn't set itself apart from any other generic action movie.

Shame that trailer showed very little, but it does look suitably grim. Let's hope it's as awesome as Blood Money, not as poor as Kane and Lynch!

            Hence the term teaser.

What good does it, calling something that is clearly not a trailer "trailer" because you don't like the other word, that accurately describes it?

As stated in the post, it's not a trailer. It's a teaser.

"The publisher has also added the above teaser to the official Hitman website."

As stated by "I refuse to use that word" node its a trailer. Nothing you can fix, Xav.

Haha, "very little" more like nothing. It's just getting everyone's pants wet for when they do release a real trailer.

Just going to chime in and agree with all the other guys here. I though AssCreed was going to be like Hitman, but I just didn't think it was as good. There is definitely a lot less thinking/planning involved to execute assassinations when you compare it to Hitman's complex level layouts and disguise system.

lol guys. AssCreed is perhaps a fun series, but it's mostly an action game where stealth is ultimately meaningless.
