Steamworks confirmed for Deus Ex: Human Revolution
by Xav de Matos, May 06, 2011 2:00pm PDTConfirming a terribly kept secret, Square Enix has announced that the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution will run on the Steamworks platform. Box art for the game was spotted last month on a promotional page for Steamworks-enabled titles on the Steam store.
Along with being available for purchase on Steam, Deus Ex: Human Revolution will feature standard features such as auto-updating, Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud support.
The game will be available digitally in two flavors: standard and the Augmented Edition, featuring "a digital 40-page art book, a "making of" special, trailers, animated storyboard of the CGI trailer, motion graphic novel, soundtrack, and a free download of the Deus Ex Game of the Year Edition."
Both versions are said to be available for pre-order at discounted prices on Steam today; however, neither version is available at the time of publishing. The standard edition is $44.99, while the Augmented Edition is $53.99.
In a video posted on the official Eidos Montreal YouTube channel, producer David Anfossi, game director Jean-Francois Dugas, and art director Jonathan Jacques Belletete took a moment to discuss the PC-specific control and UI changes made to the upcoming title.
Specifically, the trio confirmed remapping of controls, an editable inventory quick key bar familiar to players of the original title, and more.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the PC is in development at Nixxes Software, with Eidos Montreal handling development duties for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. The franchise "reboot" launches on August 23.
