Dead Block announced for XBLA, PSN, and PC

Zombies invade the debut trailer for Dead Block by Candygun Games.

Candygun Games has announced its debut title called Dead Block, a zombie-defense game with B-movie aesthetics developed with Unreal Engine 3.

Dead Block's premise is a silly one: In 1950's America, Rock'n'Roll (also known as the Devil's music) was born. The music was so evil that it caused corpses to rise from their graves and attack the living.

Jack Foster (a construction worker), Foxy Jones (a traffic warden), and Mike Bacon (a perpetually hungry boy scout) have formed an unlikely alliance to protect themselves from the invading undead. Hiding in various shelters around town, they avoid Zombies by building blockades, setting fiendish traps or – as a last resort – using their weapons to fight.

If the trailer makes you think of a cartoon version of Call of Duty's Zombie mode (with a heavier focus on traps), you're not alone.

The game will include ten single-player levels, and eight split-screen multiplayer co-op levels for up to four players.

Dead Block is headed to PC, Xbox Live Arcade, and the PlayStation Network "later this year."
