Good Old Games suffered a short downtime, but has come back with a new update and a free game for your troubles. The Microprose point-and-click adventure game Dragonsphere has been added to the catalog of free games, joining Beneath a Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, Teenagent, and Tyrian 2000. The team says that site downtime might not always result in a free game, so don't necessarily count on it.

Meanwhile, the GOG update itself adds a few new features. A new downloader allows for multithreaded downloads, automatic error checking, and only runs when you're downloading from GOG.com. The team says it's optional, but recommended for larger games. The update also adds private messaging with new privacy settings, an improved checkout system, better browser support, and easier use for coupons.
