THQ CEO Brian Farrell has confirmed that Metro: Last Light will be the title of the upcoming sequel to the 4A Games-developed shooter Metro 2033. The announcement was made during a THQ investor conference call.

According to Joystiq, THQ had recently registered the domain names "Metro2033LastLight.com," "MetroLastLight.com," and "LastLightGame.com."

Based on the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky of the same name, Metro 2033 released in March 2010 for the PC and Xbox 360. Word of a sequel came quick, with some previous mentions of the franchise's continuation referring to the second game as Metro 2034.

I hope it's a substantial sequel, the original had a pretty solid ending.

Metro 2034 is the title of the second novel. If they aren't using that it's possible the game series will take a different direction than the books.

They should have kept the 2034 in the title..i can understand not wanting to use just 'metro 2034' since it's too close to metro 2033, but taking the 2034 makes no sense.

I wonder if they'll make it a bit more "open world" like Fallout.

I enjoyed the original. Great atmosphere, dialog, and level design.

The only thing I disliked was that a shotgun to the face was insufficient to kill a lot of the enemies. Maybe they only had birdshot?

Fuck yeah, I loved Metro so much. One of the most atmospheric, immersives games I've ever played.

I really liked the first one and I'm not a fan of horror or suspense video games. Very nice setting and a overall very nice feeling game. Hope they turn out another good one.

You should play some STALKER, then. Same theme, more complex/larger world.

I hope it is a little less linear this time. But I'm 100 % up for the sequel regardless.

I thought the first, while a bit linear, was quite underrated. It had a unique feel and loads of atmosphere.
