Need for Speed: The Run announced for November
by Steve Watts, Apr 29, 2011 3:00pm PDTHot on the heels of spin-off Shift 2 Unleashed, EA has announced another new entry in the Need for Speed franchise set to hit this year, titled Need for Speed: The Run. It's being developed by EA Black Box, and uses the Frostbite 2 engine usually reserved for the company's shooters. The game also brings back the popular Autolog feature, which is becoming a mainstay of EA racing titles. The announcement promises varied environments, like urban traffic, icy mountains, and narrow canyons.
It's set for a release on November 15 in North America and November 17 in Europe, and it will hit the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and 3DS. EA hasn't shown off any gameplay yet, but did release a cinematic teaser-trailer. It features cars going fast, as one might expect, and potential death by speeding train, which is probably less expected.
