A new trailer for Binary Domain, the upcoming third-person sci-fi shooter produced by Toshihiro Nagoshi and developed by the team behind the Yakuza series, is here to give us our first real glimpse of the game in action.

Set in 2080, Binary Domain's plot seem akin to movies like I, Robot and the Terminator series. In essence, humans built a lot of different advanced robots to help society in various ways, and then some genius decided it was a good idea to give them ego and emotions.

I, for one, welcome our new evil robotic overlords.

Binary Domain is due out in "early 2012" for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

I like the primary color plates on the robots. The game looks better than expected. There's a few glimpses of the shooting gameplay, it looks like it might not be catastrophic, but we'll see.

Yep, nice bright diverse palette. Limited amounts of greebles, grunge, and other things common in video game art that need to be sent to video game art concentration camps.

Nothing about the gameplay looks compelling though. I can't muster sufficient care for just another cover shooter so I really hope it has some very off the wall mechanics on top of that.

You should try the shooter Wet if you're a fan of off the wall mechanics. Sorry, that was terrible.
